Hi,
I came across this thread when I was having problems myself. PLease see my Adobe thread here:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2063442?sr=stream&ru=794883
The current state of play is that it looks like this issue is related to your sequence preset – in my case 10 bit DNX sequences only encode and ‘edit to tape’ in 10 bit, but scrubbing and timeline playback is 8 bit (or something that looks like 8 bit…The red and blue channels also see a slight luma shift when you hit play too) – However when I switched to AVCINtra 10 bit sequence the system behaved as I would have expected.
Thanks,
Paul

Hello there,
On the AJ1400 there is a menu option that (i think) is called ‘System Format’ Set this to either 25(SD) or 25(HD) depending on what you want out of the back of the deck. Put your Varicam tape in and it will pull 25 fps off of the tape and spit it out of the SDI or HDSDI outputs (obviously not VFR) – the 422 is also converted to 25Hz. I’m also pretty sure you can tell this deck to output either 720 or 1080 – again this is in the menu – look through the manual or download it from Panasonic somewhere.
We do all of the VFR by loading in FCP and converting to 25 and laying back to tape.
I hope this helps,
Paul

I think I have found what i’m looking for with Virtual VTR – but maybe there are some other alternatives out there worth looking at?
“Act like a deck” as in I want our Protools on one Mac to be able to control the QT output of another mac – in true sync.

No, I’ve double checkd al my output settings when I choose to export the project to an animation quicktime. 32 bit float, Full res and best quality render. I don’t have motion blur switched on because the text is moving very slowly and adds loads to the rendering time.

Hi,
Thanks for this – but i’ve established that decklink is getting audio into my system so I thought best to ask on the FCP forum because it’s when I get to FCP that I’m getting the issue. I’ve always had the decklink preferences set to SDI audio input – that’s how i’ve been getting audio into the BMD deckcontrol program.

Hello,
I remember having the same problem with my FCP setup. I was surprised to discover that the audio mix tool had to be open for the mackie to work (even if it was hidden it had to be open somehwere on the layout).
I hope this helps,

Walter,
Didn’t I read recently that you sent your Final Touch back because of problems??

Hit the options button then select ‘maintain, square’ as your preference for resizing.
