FCP and HD Colour Correction
Posted by Sean Davison on July 7, 2006 at 8:54 amOK – Im using FCP 5.1.1 to online a series of 50 minute docs and am using a Videotek VTM series rasteriser for my monitoring. How can I get FCP to generate legal colours as what ever I do I am getting a stream of constant Gamut errors (Legal on HD illegal when converted) Does any one know of a software/plugin legaliser that will do thid – Broadcast safe doesnt do it.

July 7, 2006 at 1:10 pmFinal Touch HD. It’s a true CC application. You send your FCP timeline via XML to it, color correct and render, then send a new XML back to FCP.

We CC’d 6 episodes of Good Eats HD with it and both the Producer and the network absolutely love the new controls I have. It came in especially handy in one particular segment where we had some issues on a solid wall and using the ColorFX palette I was able to correct this in about 2 minutes.

Do you use a control panel like the JL Cooper MCS Spectrum with the Final Touch?
Do you know of a probe on the market that I can buy to properly set up my 20L5 monitor to color correct?
Thanks, Keith Collea

Nope. Just my tablet. Tanget panels are recommended over the JL Coopers by some colorists I know.

Nope, we use good old fashioned blue screen and our eyes to set it up.
