You are correct. And again, Apple (not Boris FX) is going to be the one to fix this issue and at this time, we do not know when this fix will be released Apple.

Steve, Boris plugs work in FCP. there have been many updates to both product lines and maybe you just need a patch. which Boris product do you need to get working in FCP?

    January 19, 2007 at 3:42 pm in reply to: RED 3.0/4.0/4.1 Work-around

Hello All, we posted a script on our website a while ago that wil do just that. It’s called “RED 3 Settings – RED 4 Settings Update For Final Cut Pro users”. This script will enable RED 3 effect settings to open in RED 4 on FCP timelines. To use, you must run the apple script on the machine that you have installed both RED 3 and RED 4.
One other thing, if you have installed the NON-Universal install of RED 4.1, you will not be able to open FCP timelines that have effects created with the MAC-Universal install of RED on them.

Here is a link to the download for this script.

Klabatraz, I’m going to assume you are installing RED into FCP. Is this correct? If so, what version do you have, 5.1._? Also, what type of Mac is it, Intel or non-Intel

    thanks,
    Paul

January 9, 2007 at 8:10 pm in reply to: BCC4.01 + FCP. Everything works except Transitions

If you are using FCP v5.1.2, the BCC transitions will not work. Apple changed a few things between v5.1.1 and v5.1.2 that caused BCC’s transitions not to work. The filters work fine though. Apple (not Boris FX) is aware of the transitions issue and is currently working to correct it.

January 8, 2007 at 8:35 pm in reply to: Can’t get the patch to work for RED & FCP 5.1.2

Nick, it has nothing to do with the version of RED you have, the issue here is FCP v5.1.2 doesn’t support Boris’ transition plug ins. So, to answer your question, no RED 3.0.5 will not work either. Once Apple has completed what needs to be fixed on their end, we will release a version of RED that will contain a transition plug in that will work with FCP.
