    Hi
Try copying deck to deck directly via FireWire – this will indicate if the decks can send/receive via FW.
Also is there a deck Reset button like there is on a DSR-11?

    Hi
Once the little switch is set to PAL on the back of the DSR-11 then switch iot on. Boot up the Mac with the DSR-11 powered up and connected – this makes sure OS X gets set to PAL FW mode. Then open FCP, and Log and Capture.

    Hi
Propably there is a corrupted movie clip, audio file or still image somewhere. Use the Finder – Movie Player and Preview/Photoshop to check all the assets and see if something doesn’t open correctly.

    Hi
One of your movie clips or still images in the sequence has become corrupted.

Check everything one at a time in the Finder with QuickTime Player or Preview, and see if any of them don’t open properly.

    Hi
I can’t help with your soundcard problem, but I suspect most 5.1 sound mixing, apart from by Vegas users, isn’t done in the editing application.
To get a properly functional software surround mixer you conventionally have to take the audio tracks into a music sequencer like Pro Tools or Nuendo, or the equivalent.

March 8, 2006 at 11:30 am in reply to: Apple’s FCP Upgrade Offer – any gotchas?

[Tony!] “NAB only a month or so away, you may want to wait for the new version of FCP Studio”
    Hi
Quote from Apple’s web site Universal Upgrade page:
“Orders must be postmarked by December 20th, 2006, and received by December 29th, 2006.”
So the gamble is will FCP 6 be released before the end of the year? (By which time the Intel quad replacement should have shipped).
If so, will upgrading from the current offer after the new version ships be advantageous, compared to upgrading to the universal version now, then upgrading 5u>6 later?

March 7, 2006 at 10:27 am in reply to: video device DV video is (NOT) missing

    Hi
My FCP4.5 setup (which works properly) also says CanonDV in the DV capture settings listings. At first I made a duplicate setting, and changed it to Sony, to match my DSR-25 deck.
But after trashing preferences a while ago the setting reverted to CanonDV. As this works as well as the Sony setting, I’ve left it….
Your capture failure issue is a different thing.

    Hi
No my manual is for the J-10/J-30, so the older J3 may be different.
