We’re digitizing Digi-Beta foorage off a Sony J3 deck via SDI through an AJA IO, converting the signal to DV for the offline cut of our film.

We don’t know at this stage whether we will do a conform for the online (ie we may use the DV res footage for the online).

The J3 is in the machine room downstairs, and I can’t see the timecode on the tape ticking up as I digitize.

I want to have the ‘Super’ on to take notes of timecodes as we digitize, but when I turn the ‘super’ on, it also comes through on the SDI signal, which is no use if we want to use that footage in the online.

Is there a way of having the super on on the composite output, so I can monitor that, but NOT have it on the SDI signal?

    Hi
On a J-30 SDI Menu option 005 enables/disables timecode super on the composite outpt, and option 027 does the same for the SDI.
I think the same printed manual does both models, so it may be the same for both (maybe ‘extended’ menu needs enabling).

    Hi
No my manual is for the J-10/J-30, so the older J3 may be different.

I don’t see any menu settings in my manual to set up which gets the Super signal. Sounds like the Super is just ON or OFF.

    Hi,

    Why not digitize to DV50?

    Best Wishes,
