  • importing DV PAL into FCP using a DSR 11

    hello all.

I’m using a DSR 11 which definitely plays PAL (the little PAL light comes on when the PAL tape is in there) and i can control the deck in the log and capture window. i’ve got the capture preset set to PAL DV 48k, i’ve got the sequence preset to PAL DV 48k – but everytime i try to capture, it says ‘looking for timecode’ (even though the little timecode box in the log and capture window reads the timecode), and then stops the deck with a dialog box that says ‘capture aborted because there is no video.’

i’ve tried to use my z1u as a deck as well with the same result
all the settings in the ‘capture settings’ and ‘capture presets’ are set to DV PAL 48k, so i’m mystified.
anyone have any ideas on this?

thanks in advance for your help!

Make sure that you switch that little switch in the back to PAL.

    Hi
Once the little switch is set to PAL on the back of the DSR-11 then switch iot on. Boot up the Mac with the DSR-11 powered up and connected – this makes sure OS X gets set to PAL FW mode. Then open FCP, and Log and Capture.
