128MB of RAM is not enough – you should have the full 1GB that that eMac supported for any real work.It will run FCP v4.1.1 or v4.5 HD if you update it to Panther OS X 10.3.9 – it might work with Jaguar 10.2.8 but nothing before 10.2.6 was any good at all.
QuickTime can be v7.1.5 even if you find that FCP v5.0.4 or much better v5.1.4 will not overpower it.
All these were/are stable versions, but a lot of the other interim versions were not fully reliable.

If its set up so to do, but unfortunately not every TV can play the output of the DVD player properly.
Especially if the DVD player is outputting NTSC 4.43 as PAL 60 scaled into a 720×576 raster. -

If its an IDE drive the likelihood is that when it was originally initialised it had an Apple Partition Map installed.An Intel Mac won’t boot from that Boot-partition scheme – Intel Macs need a GUID Partition Map.
So before you CCC’d the data from your original boot drive you should have repartitioned the FW drive with GUID (in the Custom options).

Its a legacy QuickTime thing – codecs use macroblocks of like 16×16 or 4×4 pixels to do their data compression, so 851 0r 823 doesn’t ‘compute’.

With Premiere 6.5 (Mac) captured clips imported into FCP had their timecode in one of FCP’s Aux timecode tracks, so it was readable in the Browser.
Its probably unlikely that that will apply to cross-platform captures, but maybe worth checking. -

I’ve got this error where the frame rate is dodgy, so I use Cinema Tools or QuickTime Player/MPEG Streamclip to conform the frame rate to its proper rate where it is nominally the same, and Compressor or Nattress Standards Converter to alter the frame rate/pixel size. -

Try:-
Get the camcorder powered up in playback mode (set as it is when it works with the MBP).
Attach it to the powered-down iMac, then power up the iMac, open FCP and try again. -
