Any way to make FCP read the embedded DV timecode in an .avi file?
I occasionally have to capture DV .avi files on a Windows-based Premiere Pro system and then edit those files in FCP 7, which imports and works with the .avis natively with no issues except for one – it doesn’t read the embedded timecode, and so every video clip has a start timecode of 00:00:00:00.
Does anyone know of any ways of getting FCP to read the embedded timecode, preferably without having to transcode the .avis in any way? The data is there in the clip, surely there’s some way FCP can access it.
