Found some footage myself … this looks like what you want starting at 5:18 or so … a challenge to do in Vegas .. but maybe the new Track Motion can do it? .. I’ll give it a whirl as time permits. Nifty FX .. those TV guys are clever.

I’m not seeing this behavior … but maybe I don’t understand what you are doing. Or maybe I don’t understand why you need to “heal” these events in the first place.
Event heal is meant to “heal” where you have “split” an event. In other words, put the event back together as it was before you did the “split”. I don’t see that it alters the overall length of the two events being healed. .. It comes in handy if you “accidentally” split an event and then trimmed it or otherwise messed up the continuity of the event and want to put it back to where it was before you did that.

It’s possible you have some space between your events on the timeline to cause the black screen. Zoom the timeline to make sure there is no space between the events after you split them.

This means going back to what works to start. You mentioned you’ve done this type editing a lot. Go back to a project that is similar that is working.
Once you have a project that “works” .. do a save as to create a sample project. So we now have a project that works that we can alter. Add a small bit of the media from the project that has the problem. Do things still work? Add more of the media .. any problems. Can you do something to the old project that creates the problem? If you can, then hopefully you have an idea of the cause.
You get the idea … narrow things down to what you KNOW works and what you KNOW doesn’t. The cause may become apparent.

August 12, 2018 at 4:34 pm in reply to: How to add/remove and move a cropped section of video.>>With the Crop feature in Video FX, I can only set the options one time and the cropping effect will run from beginning to end without the possibility of editing the effects dynamically as I have described above.
With pan/crop you can use keyframing to change the pan/crop dynamically. YouTube has numerous video tutorials to help with keyframing.
