Honestly I had no idea it was illegal. I was just trying to figure out if there was a way to edit the material since the person hiring me to edit there demo reel had worked on these TV shows.
Evidently they had someone do this for them the past. Thanks for setting me straight.

And Shane – my apologies for going past your advice..I didn’t put it all together. I should have known better!

    >>>Do you need to provide two tracks of dual mono, or four tracks of two stereo pairs?

I am not sure about that. Here is what he emailed me:

    >>I need the dialogue split to the left channel, the music to the right.

He wants to be able to turn the music off or on separate from the rest of the tracks.

    thanks,

    Paula

I think you’re right the .dv files are ng,
MPEG Streamclip would not let me drop the files in.
I ended up getting the original file from the clients machine.

    Thanks again for your help!

    Jeremy,

I tried to drag and drop the file into MPeg Streamclip already.
Do you happen to know the right procedure? The files are small clips (2 min each).
Never even tried iMovie. The files came from a DVD.

    >>try MPEG Streamclip. It’s free. What’s weird is that it should open in QUicktime. There might be something wrong with the files themselves. How big are they?

    I really appreciate your help.
    Thank you,

    Paula
