  • Problem Playing back video footage from Cannon AVCHD camera

Posted by Paula Stein on November 30, 2010 at 6:40 pm

I have transferred HD video footage from a Cannon HD camera HDD (AVCHD) through Log and Transfer in FCP 7. All went well, but every time I play in the time line, the footage stutters and doesn’t play properly.
The sequence setting matches and no rendering.

Anyone else have this problem, any solutions??

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Paula

Does the footage play smoothly when you load it into the Viewer window? Also, what are your system specs? RAM?

I’m going to guess its a RAM issue. Unfortunately this is not an easy or cheap upgrade for a MACBOOK PRO.

It could also be a drive speed issue. Are you playing the footage off of an internal drive on the laptop? Or is your media on an external hard drive? If external, how is it connected to your laptop?

One other question. Will it play in Quicktime smoothly?

The clips are on the macbook hard drive. The quicktime files when played also step frame and stutter. Thanks for your help.
