If you are editing in FCP 7, there would be lots of “frame dropped during playback” from the USB 2 drives.

Does FCP X have that same error available?

There are a few great resources for those who are transitioning from

FCP 7 to FCP X

out there.

I would reccomend watching some of those youtube videos.

And I do, by default, teach people over the phone.

And what would be better is someone sharing your desktop while you speak over the phone,
so things can be very clear.

Please remember that all of the video files want to be on external drives.

Not saying that sometimes I use my internal drive for video source files.

And 256 GB will get used up quickly with all sorts of other stuff (aka Apps and plug ins).
