    I doubt you’ll be able to. What source created this file? If you can get it open, you’ll probably need to convert it to a file that FCPX can read. What other apps do you have that can open it? Does it open and play in VLC? For conversion, you might try QuickTime Player Pro, MPEG Streamclip or Edit Ready.

    I can open it with Quicktime and VLC. The files were from a stock site so I don’t know what the original source was.

    If QuickTime 7 can open it, then the free MPEG Streamclip *should* be able to convert it.

    PS: just for grins you might try seeing if, by changing the file extension to .mov, FCPX can be “tricked” into opening it.
