What is the professional solution to converting FCP X’s mov files to windows media player wmv. I feel like I’m missing something obvious since all of Google’s answers are from ’10 to ’08.

MPEG Streamclip will convert from .mov to .wmv or Flip4Mac Studio – $49.00 from here https://www.telestream.net/flip4mac/store.asp

nope, only standard definition (up to 768 X 576), so useless.

Because that’s when people stopped making WMVs. 🙂 Can you make an MP4? That’s become the cross platform and web delivery standard.

I stopped sending out wmv’s almost 2 years ago. Now I just send m4v’s by exporting using Apple Devices setting at whatever resolution I need. Never had anyone say they can’t play it.

many thanks Bret there’s only one client that insists i make wmv’s so they can share internally so i knew there was some common sense thing i was missing.

Windows Media Player can even play H.264 .mov. I think this has been the case since midway through Windows 7. It certainly began playing H.264 .mp4. Anyone who “must” have .wmv is probably on Windows XP.
You’d need Flip4Mac Studio Pro HD.
Sometimes it’s better to educate the client.

Try AnyVideo Converter HD from the App Store. In the Custom section you should see a WMV setting that can be customised.

Not “useless” just “does not work for my situation.

And you did not state where it was MPEGStreamclip or the other App.
