    Hello Audrey,

I do not know Bouke’s subtitling tool so I will mention two other leads: one that is apparently free, the other not.

If you are ready to go through the learning process of XML and SPEND time learning that, go here: https://www.michaelcinquin.com/tools/subtitles

Not sure how productive you can be with this but worth a try.

If you are ready to INVEST money into subtitling, I would suggest you use this: https://www.zeitanker.com/content/tools/zeitanker_tools/zeitanker_annotation_edit/

We’re using Annotation Edit on a regular basis and it works, and has a very good support also.

Again, I would consider this as an investment because the next time around, whatever your choice, you will use the skills you learnt.

    Hope this helps

Another opyion for tasks like these: use Name Changer. Lots of different features for flexible renaming.

    hope this helps

… and you will probably need some layering with various blend modes…

    Hi,

    look into Annotation Edit here

    https://www.zeitanker.com/content/tools/zeitanker_tools/zeitanker_annotation_edit/

It comes complete with Annotation Transcriber that your translators can use. AE will export to all soerts of formats, from Close captioning to .srt and of course DVDSP. We use it all the time and are happy with it.

Of course it will cost you some (250 euros I think) for which you get a great app, quick support (in english) and a much smoother way than the free but slightly clunky ways around xml files.

    just my 2 euro cents

March 18, 2010 at 7:36 am in reply to: Music Videos and audio sample rates

I agree with all what’s said above. I use Loader as well, but on systemes that don’t have it I am used to do a sample rate convertion using QT (export), and THEN to import the converted files into FCP.

At least that’s what I could do until I installed FCS 3 and QT X.Now I can’t figure how to do it this way as there is no export command in QT X (though there is a window one can open to check “export progress”). I may have missed something… or are we to do all conversions into fcp now?

After intensive use for a whole 18 months without a glitch I would recommend the Sonnet Fusion F2. I have the 640 Go but there is a 1To version now.

    Hope this helps,

  • Andrew,

we’ve had this problem before: in our case it stemmed from a corrupt motion template generated by Automotion. We narrowed it down to a portion of the text, in french, that had an accent in it. That same template was being used throughout the program but only when filled with that text did it cause a problem.

I am still working on finding the source of the problem as our titles are generated by PA’s in Excel, saved as txt files, then imported into Automotion. Methinks it could have something to do with text coding, either in Excel or in Automotion although until now I have not been able to reproduce this from scratch.

The good news is that XDCAM transfer will stall on it with the error message, whereas MXF4MAC will not do anything nor tell you anything is wrong…and won’t work the next time you want to use it, unless you relaunch FCP…

    Hope this helps,

    Patrice
