Work at 12 bit. It won’t hurt and is far better than dropping to 8bit.

Your 12 bit files will only contain 10bits of data the remaining 2 bit will just be 0s

You don’t need to. Avid automatically reads its internal Avid MediaFiles folders. Assuming they are correctly named and in the right place.

So the original MXF files should still be readable along with the new UME media.

If so it’s not supported for alpha ingest yet.
Otherwise it’s AMA link then transvode.

Use an HDMI deembbeder to pull the audio from the hdmi feed and then direct it to your speakers.

If Avid let’s you consolidate then it’s fine. The resultant file is identical in quality.
I qualified it because Raw formats like Red and BM can’t be consolidated. And a transcode locks in choices that can’t be undo in that media later.

Improved media management has been a feature request from me for over 15 years now.
Sadly for many many editors its just not important so it never gets pushed.

But its a gaping hole in flexibility. That said most Post houses develop smart ways to manage media renaming media folders etc to achieve what they need and then they don’t even think about it any more.

The clip names are irrelevant. Otherwise naming clips during an edit would render the conform impossible.
Linking and conforms are based on the original source file name and the Timecode (you can bring up the source file and source path in the column headings) on Resolve you can also use the Reel as a linking method so some post houses populate that during ingest.

But yes if you cut using consolidated media and send you cut to an editor who has the original Avid media it will either relink upon opening or you use the relink command.

I’d do a test to make sure first.
