No sound playback from MC on PC
Hey guys,
I’m using Avid MC 2020.4 on a PC. I have a black magic 4k intensity card for an external Monitor and a USB-C Scarlett 2i2 device for the audio output. All software that I’m using (ProTools, Premiere, Resolve) are working fine. But Avid doesn’t seem to recognise the Scarlett sound device.
When I connect some external speaker directly to my external monitor I hear the sound from the Avid. But I only want my picture to go to the monitor and the sound to play through my regular speakers that are connected to the sound device and then to the PC (USB).
The windows audio is active and not muted for MC.
When I go to the Audio settings in MC I can’t chose anything but the BMC as audio.
Any ideas?Thanks! Mike

When you have an IO card installed and used for Avid playout to an external monitor…audio goes to that device. Period. There is no way to send audio out a separate device, or thru the computer. If you have the device active in Avid, audio goes to it. Always.

Use an HDMI deembbeder to pull the audio from the hdmi feed and then direct it to your speakers.

Audio sync can become an issue when you try splitting the audio path from the video path
