Hello David,
this a very interesting post; your camera features 3CMOS sensors instead of CCDs (used by high end Sony cameras).
I saw very strange things captured by Sony CMOS cameras (nothing to say about CCD ones).
It would be interesting to see if with the same lighting a CCD camera captures the same wrong images.

…XHG1 has the SDI out, XHA1 and XHA1S have YUV and Firewire out only. Tape is not a problem, and even if 4 yo, it is still a good camera, both in SD and HDV (but don’t use it in S 4:3!)If you like to add capture to a memory card, datavideo makes a nice and cheap Firewire CF recorder https://www.datavideo.info/it/products.php?prodID=261&catID=6
Recorded files will be the same on the tape (have 4:2:0 sampling), not the best for chroma keying.
The cheaper 4:2:2 camcorder is the Canon XF100, that could meet all of your requirements, but it is a new camcoder, and it is not easy to find a used one. It has a single CMOS, but this is not a problem, the quality is good, in my opinion the only lackpoint of this small jewel is 10x Zoom (XHA1 has a 20X one).Best Regards,

December 29, 2011 at 9:50 pm in reply to: Camcorder Canon XL1s, what should I do….????Hello Michael,
I loved the XL1, but it arrived on the market 15 years ago! It has now so many limitations (low quality and light sensitivity, bad viewfinder, no LCD screen). If you have the budget, try to search for an XHA1 or XHA1S. It is DV/HDV, it has a wider and better standard lens (no need for wide or tele lens), a much better video quality and low light sensitivity. It has on the lens the three rings of professional devices (focus, zoom, iris); it is the right camera to begin as professional.

December 26, 2011 at 6:32 pm in reply to: Can someone please tell me what in the world Uncompressed is?[Frank Black] “(I understand that a live output can also be gotten but what about recorded footage)”
Hi Frank,
SDI, HDMI, YUV, Composite, Y/C, can output uncompressed signals only, for this reason, if the compressed footage of the camera needs to be transmitted using one of these connections, it will be decompressed and so be true uncompressed again (with less picture details).
Hope it helps,Paolo.Castellano@ivs.it

December 20, 2011 at 8:40 pm in reply to: Legria video recording 4:3 yet output 16:9Hello Pete,
1440×1080 is 16:9 (as well all the most common HD formats). If you are thinking that 1920×1080 is 16:9 and 1440×1080 is 4:3, you’re wrong because image aspect ratio is the same due to a different pixel aspect ratio (at 1440×1080 pixels are wider).

…Please Black Magic add the support for an open file format (like high-Quality MPEG2 Compressed Recording stored into MXF or MPG file formats with audio and timecode)
😉Paolo
P.S. Please don’t forget to add NTFS support too!

November 24, 2011 at 1:25 pm in reply to: Decklink Studio, Still confused with Audio..Hello Tony,
I think there’s nothing better than a picture to show you what I’m using nowhttps://www.emmegiricambi.it/Prodotti.aspx?show=AK402012
Although there could be an impedance loss due to the two RCA connectors on the backside (the adapter was made with another task) it works great with the Decklink Studio.
You will need one of this adapters for each mono channel (and to connect just one of the RCAs).I hope that the next version (if there will be one) of Decklink Studio will have XLR connectors again!
Happy Editing,

Hello Randy,
I have some Intensities running over Asus P8H67-V. They have no problems at all with driver v.8.X (I will try v.9 soon). The Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 doesn’t work on it. The latest USB 3.0 driver improves something (now the device is detected), but still inputs and outputs are solid black 🙁
