  • Decklink Studio, Still confused with Audio..

Hello all, I have posted questions, read through many of the forum questions and answers, and it surprises me that no one has asked this or I haven’t found it anyway.. Either that or I am a complete idiot.

I understand that all the audio ins and outs on the Declink Studio require TRS jacks.? So, I have a mono/stereo audio mixer. Going from the output of the Decklink to the balanced input of the mixer is not a problem. BUT I want to go from the RCA Tape Out, Left and Right, into the Declink Inputs. I will need to use 2 inputs on the decklink for the left and right. My confusion is, Do I need to make up a TRS to RCA cable? The only ones I have seen are Stereo 1/4″ to 2 x RCA’s which may not work.. I want to be able to record audio coming from the mixer onto the computer? Isn’t the Tape Output the ones to use? I only have the Main out on the mixer which is going to my amp/speakers. The other output is control room, but this is mainly for headphones.

I am sure others have done this, but I MUST be going about it the wrong way?

Would love some clarification. Each time I get answers, It confusing that my original question.. But I am sure that is just my ignorance.

    Hello Tony,
I think there’s nothing better than a picture to show you what I’m using now

    https://www.emmegiricambi.it/Prodotti.aspx?show=AK402012

Although there could be an impedance loss due to the two RCA connectors on the backside (the adapter was made with another task) it works great with the Decklink Studio.
You will need one of this adapters for each mono channel (and to connect just one of the RCAs).

I hope that the next version (if there will be one) of Decklink Studio will have XLR connectors again!

    Happy Editing,

Thank you… It is great to hear that works. I actually have a couple of those adapters, but I did NOT thought that would introduce noise or cause some kind of issue. It will be great to finally hook up the mixer properly today… Thank you so much, greatly appreciated.

    Hello Paolo,

I’ve been having the same problem with monitoring audio via my decklink studio and came across your post. However the link to your photo doesn’t seem to be working. Is there any where else you could point me towards that that could help.

    Many thanks

    Ollie

    Hi Oliver,
the link doesn’t exist anymore, so I’m trying to upload some picture to show the connector I’m using to link the Decklink Balanced Audio to unbalanced devices. You have to plug just one RCA.

    Hope it helps,

    Paolo
