If you have to use a DV camera to shot blue/greenscreen, this is the best one. This probably goes w/out saying but be sure to shoot it progressive. For keying I’d suggest using DvMattePro from dvgarage.com it’s cheap and works very well with DV. I use it for D1 footage at work all the time. A friend of mine recently used the DVX to shoot a short entirely on greenscreen, he used DvMattePro and it worked nicely.

I’d totally use qt movs as textures, and just re-render if you need to. If the render time is a big issue I guess you could render the screen seperately, not so much a multi-pass, jut seperate, but to change the screens you’ll need to re-render them in 3D anyway…… I recently had to do this silly thing, lots of 3D TVs:

using qt movs as textures worked great!

Gotcha. Sorry for the confusion, i was referring to “Targeted: The Hunt For Osama Bin Laden.” They may have eventually dropped the “The Hunt For” part…. I suppose there are probably a number of shows w/ the same topic and simiar names. Anyway, Nice work. Keep it flossy!

  • Hey, i just finished something wherein i stuck video footage on 3D TVs:

Cinema 4D can render out at .9 but I’d suggest just scaling the source footage to a 1:1 px aspect ratio.. Also you may want to deinterlace it…

As much as I dig C4D’s particles, Trapcode’s Particular plug for After Effects would get the job done really really easily.. I know, wrong forum.. but you can texture map output from Particular to a flat plane or cylinder in C4D and get awesome results and fast render times… Also W/ C4D’s “save AE file” feature, you can make, say, a volcano in C4D, w/ cam moves and everything, then import the render into AE and automatically match the lava you create in Particular becuase it’s a 3D particle system.. Anyway, just some thoughts..

Woa you worked on that “Targeted: Hunt for Ossama” thing? Was that for Wild Eyes in Hermosa? Or was it through THC. I was supposed to do some maps and titles for that show, but passed ’cause I was tired of pro-military shows on THC.. Nice work though. Great textures.

Anne’s book is, hands down, the best book on C4D.

    Alan,
once you’ve creatd a sweep nurb, drop a third spline into the sweep nurb under the other two. Make sure “Use Rail Scale” is selected for the nurb. You can now use that third spline to control the contour and scale of the sweep nurb.

    Jose,
I should clarify: the curves in the timeline and Fcurve thingy actually ARE spacial, not temporal, that’s why you need a Time Track, it’s purely temporal. Hope this helps.
