Hey, when do you need this? I’m in Trondheim, Norway, and have a Resolve system on a Mac Pro (only one GPU at the moment – more to come). I’ve got access to a 8m wide screen in a theatre with ~100 seats and a Christie CP2220 Projector. The projector must be fed with a Dual-Link 4:4:4 XYZ signal – which is applied as a Display LUT in Resolve. Essentially – what you see is what you get.

If you can, I’d suggest you consider renting or purchasing an Autocue monitor (or similar..). In my experience, when the monitor is set right – it comes really, really close to the experience of what you’ll see in terms of black levels and saturation in the theatre, so in the end it should only be minor adjustments.

Can you adjust gamma on the monitor? After a good chat with one of the technicians at Autocue, he told me a gamma value of 2.6 was good for D-cine work. Take that as a starting point.

When I do things going to XYZ I also set the white point to 6302K, as the preset in the Autocue monitor suggests when you select D-cine color space. Depending on your monitor, this might not be available.

With all due respect. How do I say this without being rude?

Read the configuration guide. Stick to it, or you’re on your own!

  • This one should be a sticky, if possible.

I see Jigsaw and BHPhotoVideo have the regular and one with “Quiet fan”.

So in other words, you can install 3 GPUs and a Rocket?

I find that weird. Being almost three times the CUDA cores compared to the GTX580.

Looking forward to see the 4GB version show up. Then I’m ordering asap.

Exactly what kind of Mac Pro is it?
What kind of files are you playing?
    Prores?
    Image sequence?

    What Juan said.
Don’t rely on the computer monitor.

Some times the client may say “I like what’s on the computer monitor better”. Fine. Make whatever is on the video monitor look like the computer monitor. But the image on the computer monitor will look “too much” then.

It just show’s the importance of working in a calibrated environment.

In my experience, this “power house” error will result in black frames.
I have yet to find a solution that will kill this problem once and for all.

Yup that’s the situation here too. Anything I deliver, they want ProRes. Never heard of anyone here want anything else, except XDCAM HD, but that’s one in a million kind of.
