    I’m on Lion 10.7.2
    No difference in performance here.

Have you filled up your hard drive? Is RAM filled up? If you haven’t, try a complete shutdown and restart the computer.

I find that shutting off the computer completely solves most problems rather than a reboot. But that only happens once or twice a month.

Heat and noise are two big concerns for me. Even though I’ve got much more space now than before, heat can be an issue.

No, I thought the 1st gen. Decklink HD Extreme wouldn’t have any of it. The option (among 25p) is greyed out.

As far as I know, you cannot use FireWire devices directly with Resolve. You must have a Decklink card or UltraStudio unit to output either composite, component or SDI, which the second computer can input and feed ScopeBox.

So, if you have a Mac Pro with Decklink, you would most probably want to output SDI to the video monitor. And on the MacBook you’d want UltraStudio so you can input SDI from the monitor (if it has loop through).

I’ve been using it in the beta period. Don’t remember how long, almost 6 months or so. I’ve tracked down bugs and reported them. In my case, it’s a rock solid and customizable set of scopes. In a box.

I’m not sure you fully understand how it works. You cannot (haven’t tested, nor do I want to really due to possible performance issues) or should not use it on the same computer as Resolve.

ScopeBox requires some CPU power and some OpenGL power driven by the GPU.
The way you bring the scopes to life is to input any firewire, webcam, analog or digital video signal, and tell ScopeBox where the signal comes from, what framerate and whether it’s YUV or RGB.

In my case I have a Mac Pro with 1st generation Decklink HD Extreme. I connect SDI from MP with Resolve > video monitor > MP with Decklink and ScopeBox.

I’m thinking of getting a Mac Mini and UltraStudio, and make the Mac Pro a bit more useful. Like a FTP/fileserver or something.

Here’s the specs I’ve been given.

    4 (x16) PCI-E 2.0,
    2 (x4) PCI-E 2.0 (in x16 and x8 slots),
    1 (x4) PCI-E (in x16 slot),
    2 32-bit PCI slots

In my example, after I’ve installed a Quadro 4000 and two GTX580s, I’m left with
    1 (x16) PCI-E 2.0,
    2 (x4) PCI-E 2.0 (in x16 and x8 slots),
    1 (x4) PCI-E (in x16 slot),
    2 32-bit PCI slots

As far as I can see from photos of the casing, it should be possible to install four double width PCI cards.

I’ve established contact with a reseller who’s got the SuperMicro 7046GT-TRF
    – Two six-core X5650 2.66GHz
    – 48GB RAM (it was set to this as default before configuration!)
    – PNY Quadro 4000
    – Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
    – SATA 8 port RAID controller (RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10)

About $7,5K + VAT and shipping.

GTX580 and internal RAID comes on top of this, and that’s about another $2,5K here.

    I don’t think that’s too bad, really.

One of my biggest concerns are ProRes input/output. I love the codec. 99% of all my jobs are delivered to me and expected to be delivered back in any of the ProRes types.

Nope. No customization. HOWEVER… You could make up a few presets with nodes, and adjust their opacity… Or KEY, that is. That is how much effect they have on the shot.

    Give it a spin!

I’d rather not dumb down this awesome set of zeros and ones to the level of “Mojo”. Let Mojo do the Mojo thing, and DaVinci do, and keep the high-end value it’s got.

I thought it was bad enough they launched Resolve Lite with unlimited nodes. Adding a “Mojo” slider wouldn’t really help on the image.

I suggest you create presets and apply them whenever you need them.

May I remind you the Windows version is still in beta – things are supposed to break – and you should report the problems with as much details as you can, so they can figure it out and fix it for the initial release.
