August 17, 2010 at 2:00 pm in reply to: Resolve on Mac supports Red Rocket, ProRes and CineformIt’s been discussed before, and the helping kind of guy I am, I won’t point you to “google it”. 😉
As far as I have read either here or on other forums, these are the specs:
Either a…
- Mac Pro 2009 2x Quad 2.26GHz or better
- Mac Pro 2010 (no more details at this point)
Mac Pro 2008 has been tested and works, but is not supported nor encouraged to be used with DaVinci for proper performance.
…equipped with
- GeForce GT 120
- GeForce GTX 285 or Quadro 4800
- Decklink HD Extreme 3 or HD Extreme 3D for SDI/HDMI monitoring. Other vendors will be supported when they get going on the SDK
Control panel support
- DaVinci Resolve
- Tangent Wave
Other vendors have been mentioned in video presentations and forums, such as
- JL Cooper
- Euphonix
- Other Tangent panels
Support for these will be added after release of DaVinci for Mac. Exactly when haven’t been mentioned or discussed anywhere. Only thoughts and wishes from loads of users.
Licensing
- You’re limited to using DaVinci on a Mac with a DaVinci license dongle attached to a USB port

Seriously. I’m pulling bundles of hair off my head. Where.. is.. the.. software.. gosh! 🙂 Would be kick ass to get into the software so I could give it a go on a freebie for a student and take it as learning the software. If they deliver it within August that is.

Ah I see.. My bad! I see the in the course list now they say DAV 210 instead of the old DAV201. At a glance the 1 and the 0 mentally switched places.
Cash out people! 🙂

Are you sure about that? Have you actually seen the tutorials? In the video he says it doesn’t have auto tracking features for instance. And the interface doesn’t look anything like the Resolve we’re soon going to enjoy.

Adam, that’s interesting. I have the 3,1 myself. Though no HD Extreme 3D nor GT 120. Just recently got the GTX285.

I don’t know anything about that production, but I know they’re making an entire TV series with two 1D MK IV cameras here in Norway. They’re shooting one with zoom and the other is shooting wide.. Two angles at the same time.
The trick is to output HDMI (as far as I know, it’s HDMI 1.4, which equals 10-bit color depth!) to a Prores hard drive/memory card recorder. That’s the trick – right there..
I wasn’t interested in shooting with dSLRs until I knew about this. Now I’d like to get my hands on one and get going. Mostly for commercials, music videos and that alike.
The HM700 however is a very nice camera. We got one ourselves, and will probably get a few more to have a complete multicam setup using all JVC cameras instead of 2 XL H1 and one HM700.
I agree with anything they have said earlier about zoom, open aperture and distance.. Good luck!

A retailer here said they were waiting for a delivery of the new 12-cores August 10th. If that’s true or not……
-
Noted.
However, it still costs a minimum of $499 for the DaVinci course. $399 base price for three courses, and then $100 for each course you pick from the vault, where you fid the DaVinci course.
Just wanted to mention (or correct) the total minimum cost. I’m not taking any courses at FXPHD – by reading the post I replied to, it would seem as he’s taking courses there though.
-
Yeah, but it requires you to sign up for $399 worth of training first, and then the additional $100 for the DaVinci 2K training..

I can’t find any stores that has the 2009 model in stock. Those I’ve found only has one or two of the single CPU model.. Drives me nuts!
