A retailer here said they were waiting for a delivery of the new 12-cores August 10th. If that’s true or not……

12 Core MacPros will give little difference to Resolve on Mac, especially as we’re unsure as to the compatibility of any CUDA based GPUs.

If the FX4800 and GTX285 are compatible then there is little doubt that the software will work, but I doubt it’ll be qualified until fully tested.

The current 8-core configuration will still be available (Remember this update has not removed the Quad and Dual-Quad machines) and is what we’ll still recommend until Blackmagic engineers tell us different.

Tests wont be done until Blackmagic have done alot of tests and we’re not expecting the new machines before September.

Why not try a Win7 solution?

There will not be the new Quadro 6000 or 5000 on the new MACs. Told in an interview with an Nvida guy at Siggraph.

Assimilate’s Scratch is now running under Win7 64x taking advantage of this CUDA technology.

And the hardware is the hardware. I can´t imagine why Resolve will be better on OSX than Win7.

While you can have a PC with 24 cores right now. Two Xeon dual six core. And the GTX 480 or a Quadro 6000 if you want with an SDI option.

HD link works the same in a PC than a MAC.

    My personal opinion.

Scratch is lame in my opinion. Just laying out my honest opinion. It has great metadata and was the first to work with RED but seriously, not good.

If you’re going the Windows route then look at Digital Vision’s Nucoda Fuse or HD. Proper grading equivalent to that of Baselight, and in many areas better, at a fraction of the cost.

Again it’s a single machine system on Win7.

New GPU drivers and cards due very shortly of Mac. Hold out for a little if you can.

Lots of reasons not to fall for DV – too many to list here. In our tests Resolve on Mac beats this at half the real total cost anyway. If you are so against Mac, then our Linux solution can be a one server too – real time with 20 nodes at 2K and can do 4K; priced competitively with others HD products. The Linux is scalable to more GPUs than you can ever use; i.e. 16xFX5800 today. Double this power tomorrow.

Is that possible to buy the software only version of Resolve as for MAC for the same price for a single based workstation?

    That surely will be excellent.

I have nothing against MAC, Win or Linux. I am doing business and if a Resolve version comes for MAC. I am more interested in what I can get of the equipment, more than the wrap.

We have at the studio a PC with a Kona 3 and the Tangent Wave panel that in just a blaze can be running Linux and have Resolve installed if there is a software only solution like the MAC you are offering.

I will appreciate any info on this.

    Thank you

HI, the Linux app is only available as part of a system which is available from the authorized DaVinci Distributors. It also only supports the DaVinci Resolve and legacy DaVinci 2K panels.

Do I have to contact a DaVinci distributor for Revival too ($1500 version). Is it software only like Resolve for Mac?
