Yep, the same as I did until I got a control surface. Having a Wacom made me much faster than with a mouse. if I had to do something on the keyboard, I didn’t have to let go of the pen.

Might sound stupid, but no time lost in letting go, do keyboard stuff, and find the mouse again. Getting on my nerves when I have to do that over and over again. The pen always stays between my fingers.

You’re also navigation the screen much faster with a pen! Editing in FCP with a pen is awesome and feels more natural, if that’s a word I can apply to editing..

Quickest way is to jump to each clip, jump to the keyframe and delete it.

Sounds like it’s a frame off really. Did you check the scene detection after it was done analyzing?

1) to jump to a shot, copy grade and passe without going though the still store, i believe you must have the Resolve panel.

If you have some other panel, there should be buttons to save stills and save/load memories. I’m happy with my JL Cooper at least.

If you don’t have a panel, you can use keyboard shortcuts to save and load memories and stills. Middle-click will indeed load the nodes for the memory and still.

A little heads up: get a device which can be programmed with all kinds of shortcuts. I used to Logitech G13 until I got the JL Cooper panel. Worked like a champ. Only negative thing is that you’ll have to memorize what button does what.

You could open the EDL and change the source file name to the new file.

Or

Add the new file for scene detection and apply the EDL over it. But that would get rid of the grades you already did unless you made stills and could load them again..

So your experience there seems pretty much logical and as expected to me.

Are the clips long takes and spread across the timeline? Can it in fact be that you’ve graded clip 1, while clip 50 and 62 actually was based on the same source file, but you haven’t gone back and seen what it’s done to the two other clips?

Might sound weird for asking this if you already know about it. But that thing drove me nuts the first few days with Resolve last summer, coming from Color.

Did you try to toggle between OFF/GUI/GUI+SDI ? You might also want to make sure, just to be on the safe side, that you’re in the “edit power windows” mode, or whatever I might call it.

The left most icon right under the viewer. It has buttons for power windows, eye drop tool and wipe, and dust busting.

Here we go again.. No rendering for performance driven real-time playback, yes. There’s never been said “no rendering to save as files”. Wanna do tape out? Fine! Hit record on the deck and play the damn thing.

I still want real-time performance, and what I’m seeing is a lot of red projects popping up all over. What am I gonna do about it? Get a Red Rocket. That’s a start.

What card did you connect the monitor cable to? You should connect it to the GT120 card.
I would also encourage you to install the latest version, Resolve 8.1

Sorry if I was unclear. I was talking about real-time proxies. Less resolution, but works like a charm.
