  • Some simple questions regarding Resolve

Starting with an apology is always a bit dodgy but….I haven’t used these forums before so please excuse me if a) I’m not doing this right and b) if my questions have already been asked (I haven’t really worked out how to search in the forums yet)

Okay, my first question is in regards to copying grades. I’ve read the post that talked about centre clicking which works great. I was wondering is there an option – similar to the davinci 2k, or even the scroll wheel on lustre – where you can “scroll” through your timeline to find a grade from a previous shot? Does that make sense? I think (from memory) I used to be able to hit ‘copy’ and then I’d scroll through the timeline and then hit ‘use’ or ‘as is’ Any clues?

The second question is SO basic I feel pretty shy about asking it. I know that you can get clip info through the browsing window to call up metadata on a clip, is there a way to get information about the frame rate for a shot? If I’m setting u a job and I’ve been told it’s 24fps but then they’ve thrown in a shot that is 30fps is there a way for me to tell?

    Thanks in advance,

    Vincent

    1) to jump to a shot, copy grade and passe without going though the still store, i believe you must have the Resolve panel.

If you have some other panel, there should be buttons to save stills and save/load memories. I’m happy with my JL Cooper at least.

If you don’t have a panel, you can use keyboard shortcuts to save and load memories and stills. Middle-click will indeed load the nodes for the memory and still.

A little heads up: get a device which can be programmed with all kinds of shortcuts. I used to Logitech G13 until I got the JL Cooper panel. Worked like a champ. Only negative thing is that you’ll have to memorize what button does what.
