Sorry, I wasn’t aware of that you shoot SD(?)

It’s easy to render PAL as NTSC 24p.

    Create a new project.

On the Video tab of the Project Properties dialog, choose the template that matches the desired output format. For example, choose NTSC DV if you’re converting PAL video to NTSC, or choose PAL DV to convert NTSC video to PAL.

Add the file you want to convert to the timeline.

    Render the project:

    a. From the File menu, choose Render As. The Render As dialog is displayed.

    b. Choose a drive and folder from the Save in drop-down list, or use the browse window to locate the folder where you want to save your file.

    c. Type a name in the File name box, or select a file in the browse window to replace an existing file.

    d. Choose Video for Windows (*.avi) from the Save as Type drop-down list.

    e. Choose the rendering template that matches the desired output format.

    f. Click the Save button.

Remember to de-interlace, as web is progressive.

My own experience is that VirtualDub does a better de-interlace than Vegas.

  • Make a brightness/contrast template to show the web-color in your preview window, use as preview FX. Remember to unhook before rendering.

Render one of the Media generator – Test, upload to web. Make the template so your preview correspond to the web video.

    Sorry for the dobblepost.

Some people claims that if average is higher than 90% of max, one will not gain quality by using VBR.
And if one uses VBR, one should use 2-pass.

Why not use your original media source?

1920×1080, Sony AVC 17Mbps burned on a DVD. VLC will play it from your PC.
