May 28, 2015 at 1:57 am in reply to: Way to remove automatic fade in/fade out when cutting clips ?You are getting cross fades because you are overlapping your events. Don’t overlap your events and you will not get the crossfades.
The Options menu controls if automatic crossfades are generated, but you still need to not overlap your events.
I do not see any crossfades in your screenshot. Maybe you are getting very tiny overlaps. If so you may have snapping disabled. This is controlled via the Options menu. Generally you always want snapping and quantize to frames enabled.

May 28, 2015 at 1:50 am in reply to: Newbie: Creating a video with clips that have different frame rates.Vegas will automatically conform your sources to your desired output size and frame rate. Using mixed sources is not a problem. So the real question is what is you desired output result? 720p30, 720p60 1080p30, 1080p60 or something else?
A conversion between 30p<->60p is pretty ideal and with resampling disabled you will not get any ghosting. Going from 30p to 60p will just duplicate frames in the 30p source. 60p to 30p will drop every other frame in the 60p source.
When changing frame size just make sure your final render quality is set to Best so Vegas will use its highest quality interpolation (resize) algorithm. Using either a 1080 or 720 output, with mixed 1080/720 source should be fine.

The amount of time to encode depends on your CPU+GPU speed. When you render, you are rendering (encoding) to a specific video type like AVC/H.264 or MPEG-2 (a codec). Each encoder is unique and different and some are faster than others. Generally the more highly compressed a codec format is the slower it encodes.
MP4 is not an encode type, but is rather just a generic file container. I’ll assume when you reference MP4 you are probably talking about AVC/H.264 video.
There are two AVC MP4 encoders in Vegas. Mainconcept and Sony AVC. Sony AVC is the faster of the two when using CPU. Mainconcept will generally have better final quality but depending on bitrate the difference may not be visible to the eye. These two encoders, unlike all others, do have options to use your GPU for helping to speed up file encoding. Not so much for Sony AVC, but Mainconcept can be much faster *IF* and only if it supports your GPU. Mainconcept only supports older GPUs.

May 22, 2015 at 5:36 pm in reply to: Rendering for YouTube. Been trying different render settings for almost a whole year nowOne thing to remember Youtube/Vimeo re-encode everything you upload to them to their specifications. Bitrate being the key item. We have no control over this.
If the video you render for upload looks just fine and the result you get after upload does not look as good then you are getting the best Youtube/Vimeo can offer at their encoding specification. There is nothing you can do.
It all depends on the source material being given to them. High frequency detail, fast or jerky movement all need more bitrate to maintain quality. Some material will exceed the capabilities of the Youtube/Vimeo encode is capable of. Their bitrates need to get very high compression to maintain high quality. Some source material just does not compress very well.

[Aleksey Tarasov] “I suppose it’s a bug…”
Agreed. The delete/copy options should be enabled and the other items disabled since they have no meaning.
[Aleksey Tarasov] “I was able to delete/copy text keyframes: click on the keyframe but do not release the mouse button. Now press Del or Ctrl+X”
Nice detective work. One interesting thing is that if we have more than one “text” keyframe they can both be selected and then the delete/copy items are enabled. Just cannot do that with a single keyframe, which is a bug IMO.
-
The keyframes for the text itself do not support the usual keyframe options like Interpolation. What would that mean for the text anyway. Unfortunately the ability to delete/copy etc had also been disabled for keyframes of the text.
The other fields in Titles and Text should keyframe as you expect.

Those files, svfx…, you are showing are normal text logs of the various video plug-ins installed and what the capabilities of the plug-in are.

May 19, 2015 at 4:48 pm in reply to: File IO Surragate in Task Manager Crashes Sony When Task EndsFileIoSurrogate is a process used by Sony Vegas to interface with 32-bit codecs. Quicktime is always 32-bit.
If you terminate FileIoSurrogate while Vegas is running, then Vegas is not going to like this as you have found out.

Vegas itself will use that card for the video engine. The Mainconcept AVC encoder will not use that card.
