    Hi Everyone:

Something weird is happening where now every time I open the Render window Vegas is default on Sony MXF default. When I open Vegas there is an immediate crash dump and a bunch of files. This is very new and I don’t know why it’s happening. Even when I click Dolby or Windows and close the render window, when I reopen it defaults to Sony MXF and I get a bunch of files in my C drive. It also removes my render options, for instance, the stretch video option which is always where I leave it is now unselected.

Hard to explain. Please see the snapshots.

This is what I see on my C Drive every time I open Vegas; any file it seems

This is the default to MXF that is very unusual. I’ve never had that happen. Whatever I select in the Render window is that I keep until I choose something else. This MXF default is the result of a crash.

Any help you can share would be greatly appreciated.

    Best,

    Debbie

Those files, svfx…, you are showing are normal text logs of the various video plug-ins installed and what the capabilities of the plug-in are.

    Hi Debbie,

there is a file called RenderAs.settings. This is where Vegas keeps your “Render As Settings”. It seems the default is Mxf.

It looks as though the file was deleted, perhaps in your crash. To re-create it (if required ) just save a small project using the Render Settings you want and it will be automatically created as you like it.

C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\13.00\RenderAs.settings. Replace yourname with your account. Also you may be another drive than C so replace that with your device.

If that file is still there and you are still getting Mxf as a default – you can take a copy of it or rename it something like RenderAs.settings.bak. Then vegas will re-create the file next time you render something.

Try resetting Vegas Pro. Hold down Ctrl+Shift as you double-click the icon to start it. It should ask if you want to clear all of the settings and you should answer yes. Understand that this will reset all of your Vegas Pro settings back to the defaults so you will loose any preferences changes that you may have made but it should get things working again.

    Hi Everyone:

Thank you so much. Good to know I can try something other than what I’d been doing.

John, if I reset Vegas, will it keep the plugins I have for the media files, like color correction, etc? I’ve also been having some problems with an entire scene where randomly it has blinking blackouts. I’m not sure if I’m explaining it right, but it’s a slower flicker that shows black. Sometimes it comes out in the render and sometimes it does not, but it’s always that particular scene.

    Many thanks everyone.

    Best,

    Debbie

[Debbie King] “Sometimes it comes out in the render and sometimes it does not, but it’s always that particular scene.”

Are you using the MainConcept MPEG2 Render template? And are you applying to the whole, pre-rendered Project?

Yes, absolutely. The only thing you will loose is any changes you have made in Options | Preferences. That’s all. Everything else, plug-in presets, custom render templates, etc. will still be there. If just resets Vegas Pro back to the defaults that were in place the first time you installed it.
