Not sure what you meant by that. There is indeed a DVCPROHD codec from Avid on the PC side. It does exist. So there… 🙂

Nope I love them for fast tweaking. If I need exact parameters I switch to the inspector. How much easier could it be?

DVCPROHD is a codec that you get as part of Final Cut Pro 4.5 and up. It is then available to any QuickTime compatible application- including AFX. No workarounds are needed. That being said, the Animation codec would be a better choice when working with AFX to preserve more image quality up to the final output.

By visually looking at what’s on the tape and stopping playback before you reach the end of the last thing recorded. If you leave a little extra at the end of every take this is easy to do without recording over something you want.

Always start recording a few seconds early and keep recording a few seconds past cut. That way you can review the tape and then cue up to the end of the last shot(before it ends) thereby not breaking timecode.

True- it’s doing only as promised but it would be preferable to have filters, time-remapping, etc at least as a check box option on send to Motion. Some users I’ve worked with have been surprised at this not already being so. Consider it a feature request.

One big thing I forgot to mention is that I usually wash my shots through Nattress’s G-Nicer filter before keying to upsample the chroma information. This gives me much cleaner edges from DV footage.
