If you intend to edit at 23.98- you must shoot at 24p standard and then treat the footage the same as you would telecined film material on a Media Composer. Capture at 29.97 and reverse telecine to get it to 23.98.

Hard to say- you could go back to the earlier version of the video and see what happens. iDVD is fairly dumbed down and doesn’t give you much option for looking under the hood. That’s why going to DVDSP should be on your Christmas list. If you’re doing work for clients you owe it to them and yourself…

You mean how long do you run the head cleaner? Typically playing it from 5-10 seconds does the job.

Most likely clogged heads due to the new tape stock- try running a head cleaner.

Glad you are enjoying the apps. I’d suggest posting your ideas here. There’s just so many people out there using the program Apple doesn’t have the resources to go one-on-one with everybody. But they read these boards. Greg Niles for example is one of the designers of Motion and pops in once in a while.

Both would be a solid idea.

Yes that would do it. Animation is a QuickTime codec that introduces a low amount of recompression and preserves the alpha channel and is good to use when going back and forth between apps.

Are there any audio filters applied? Sometimes roundtripping just doesn’t work properly. I’d suggest either not disabling about the audio or if it’s critical for your motion graphics design- export from FCP as a QuickTime animation codec movie and bring that into Motion.
