Not specifically but there’s many way you could come up with something like this in Motion. The simplest that comes to mind would be to break one layer into several pieces(new layers) in Photoshop using the lasso/cut tool to create irregular slices. Then using the random motion and throw behaviours, break them apart in Motion.

That depends what codec is being used. Are they capturing 8bit or 10-bit uncompressed to an AJA or something along those lines or capturing native DVCPROHD via Firewire?

Wastes time and volunteer resources. Pick the most appropriate forum and ask the question there. That’s how it works on just about any forum FYI.

Either way- yes. Some networks accept 720p and the upconverts to 1080i from Varicam if done properly are also acceptable though again there are hundreds of channels in the U.S. and each has their own broadcast standard- some not even requiring an HD master as of yet.

Broadcast quality is such an arbitrary term that we don’t even use it anymore around here. If you use the HQ settings and everything is setup properly in DVDSP/FCP you can expect results that look within IMHO 75-85% as sharp as the original input footage. That said it won’t ever look better and can look a lot worse depending on your workflow and your source material. That said- what exactly is the problem?

Are you working on a PAL project? It should not have any problems if you’re setting the project up properly.

Perhaps the data rate is too high. Remember- H264 at high data rates requires a huge amount of processor power. That could explain why the G5 can play and the slower machines cannot. Also make sure they have the latest version of QuickTime 7.
