No one with tips on this?

Starting P2CMS only lists each card, and there’s no clip no. info present.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll go for DV50, then.

(strange enough that QT does have a number of settings much more explained – there are both DVCPRO and DVCPRO50, HD, DV25, etc etc…)

Not that I can see, but that’s mainly because I have not had any issue with this before.

Before moving to P2, we shot Betacam SP and captured using a DSR-45P DV/DVCAM deck. Thus the codec was Apple DV, and it looked really really good. And sure, it was uncompressed analogue source.

Surely the DV codec does compress quite much. Then going to DVCPRO50 (equal to Digibeta) on SD we believe the upcoming project would at least not look worse

Thanks Noah and Jeremy, I think I’ve got it now.

Good analogy with negativ and workprint.

On my project disk I won’t need the MXFs, only the QTs that I have Log and Transferred from one of my two archive disks. Sure enough, I could keep the MXFs on my project disk too, leaving the MXFs on three different disks, just in case… 🙂

    Thanks again!

The only thing now is that I always end up with red stripes when I drag P2 clips onto the timeline.

If you can tip me on what presets (modified or not) I should use, I’d be very glad!

OK, finally got it to work (somewhat) on the editing Mac, using FireWire. Only two of the four cards show, but I was able to mount them using Disk Utility.

Oh well, now it seems to work. Too bad I did go and buy that USB card…

Yep, comes from offloaded P2 cards.

Looks like I’m not alone with this problem. Did you manage to get it work?

Should I disconnect and connect the cable while the camera is still in 1394Device mode?

I did try the Disk Utility, but perhaps I did not wait long enough. There were no P2 disk in Disk Utility.

Will give it another try tomorrow.

The sad thing is that neither USB or 1394 works on our main editing computer, which is quite cumbersome having to offload the clips using the laptop or my desktop Mac mini.

Somehow we managed to view the footage recorded in DVCPRO50. However, I think there’s a compressor preset in FCP that I wonder about. If I recall correctly, it’s set for DVCPro50.

What happens when you use LOT in FCP and the preset are wrong? Will the QT files have wrong codec, or will FCP / LOT maintain the original DVCPRO50 set i camera?
