For each clip, double click on it from the timeline and head on over to the Motion Tab. Scale it down to 50%, and start adjusting the Center points.
Upper Left is -180 by -120
Upper Right is 180 by -120
Lower Left is -180 by 120
And I’m hoping you can guess what Lower Right is 😉 -
I’ve got Digital Rebellion’s Preferences Manager installed, so I don’t even know any more. https://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm

What version of FCP are you using and what are the specs on your Macbook?
Generally speaking however, when I have issues with multicam edits, I quit FCP, trash the preferences, reopen, and all is right with the world.

I actually have a drive with FCS install images and Creative Suite 4. It’s more an issue of once that’s done, I still have to install Firefox, iWork, iLife from their .DMGs, run software update 8 million times, install the plugins with all their various serial numbers, etc etc. The Disc Image route saves a ton of time, but I still need to block out usually a half day to get the system in line with the rest.

It’s happening on 1 of our 4 FCP7 systems. And it only happens with certain projects on certain drives. Trashing prefs hasn’t solved the issue, and yes, I wiped the hard drive, installed everything from the ground up. Still a little FUBAR, but I’m not annoyed enough to the point of reinstalling 😉

My mantra around the office is- when in doubt, trash preferences, reboot and get some coffee. Trash, trash away there John.

It could also be an audio compatibility issue. MPEG Streamclip has a nice little button to change audio to 48kHz when it encodes, which I have eternally useful.

The best way to get web anything out of FCP, in my opinion, is to export a self contained file of your timeline, and then use Compressor to make the web file. Final Cut is really for cutting video. Compressor is for… compressing video! 😉 They have a lot of presets for the web which are fairly easy to adjust and get to a reasonable size (but which might not have reasonable quality, depending on the desired file size).
When in FCP, open your timeline, and choose file/export/quicktime. Do not choose quicktime conversion. Let FCP export the file, which will probably be huge. And then you take it into Compressor, which I do not have the time to give a step by step tutorial on how to use.
This isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, but some of the ideas are still applicable:

Hi Connie,
My guess would be something is wrong with the externals- either the hard drive or the adapter. How much space is on the external hard drive? And how much space is on your internal hard drive for that matter?
I would try this and see how it works- make a folder on your G-Raid and call it P2card01. Copy all the contents of the P2 card (the Contents folder and the .txt file on the card) to said folder. Eject the P2 card. Open FCP and ingest from the hard drive. When in Log and Transfer mode, you can click “Add Custom Path” and just navigate your way to the P2Card01 folder you made. Your clips should show up and you can ingest away.
Shane Ross has a P2 import page here on the Cow- https://library.creativecow.net/articles/ross_shane/p2fcp6.php
Check out the video and the conversation that follows, it may be helpful 🙂 -
Right click on the png and open up item properties. Under Alpha, flip it to Straight (or Black, White, whatever looks best). Things with Alpha’s often don’t import with the transparency recognized. Just another thing we love about FCP. After you flip it, bring it to the timeline and you should see the transparency.
