i have avi files and I want to import them into fcp studio 2. I’ve read that avi files don’t work well with fcp so I encoded them in MPEG Streamclip first as Pro Res files but when i put them into the timeline I was told that they didn’t match my sequence which is dv, So I imported them with the dv codec and when I dragged the dv file into the timeline I got the merciless red line.

Please point me in the right direction.

    Thank you.

It could also be an audio compatibility issue. MPEG Streamclip has a nice little button to change audio to 48kHz when it encodes, which I have eternally useful.
