I have a 720X480 frame and am trying to fit 4 smaller clips inside of it, all of them are originally at 720X480 as well. I know how to do it with wireframe and basic motion, but i’m trying to get it exact, like each box 360X240 and uniformly fit. I haven’t seen any options for changing the framesize in pixels in basic motion. the only way seems to be manually which seems to yield a fair amount of imperfections.

    Thanks!

In FCP, you can’t fiddle with pixel sizes manually, it’s all about the Basic Motion twirl down and the Distort one.

For each clip, double click on it from the timeline and head on over to the Motion Tab. Scale it down to 50%, and start adjusting the Center points.

Upper Right is 180 by -120
Lower Left is -180 by 120
And I’m hoping you can guess what Lower Right is 😉
