Thanks for the help chaps…
Simple choker has helped alot – apart from the overlapping parts, obviously. but I just might get away with it!
3D stroke might work when there are separate strands, but I need words to be written in one strand, which is where the overlapping problems come in…

You can set a solid layer to be a ‘floor’ within particular. Then when the particles hit that, you can set it so the aux system emits a ‘splash’ of more particles on impact.
The results might not be photorealistic, but I reckon they’d be good enough. As long as your shot is locked off, that is!

I’m kind of in the same situation….
I’m on a G5, not quite in a position to get a new mac pro yet. I’m not really after more performance, but I really want to use the new features in CS3.
I guess my question would be – is CS3 any slower on a G5 than AE7 is on a G5?

Ah yes, I was a little vague…
OK, we have 2 macs in the office. Each with FCS2 that has been upgraded from FCP1.
Mac 1’s hard drive got messed up, and the OS had to be cleanly re-installed. So now I need to re-install FCS2. To do it from the upgrade I need the serial for FCP1.
But also, I could do with knowing the FCP1 serial for Mac 2 just so I don’t go and install the same version by accident, when given a choice of 2 serial numbers – assuming I find them.
Arrrg.
