    Hi there,

A client has asked for an existing video sequence to be tweaked. Here is a sample still of what it’s like at the moment…

Basically they want all the background to be pure white, and also for the table to be pure white, but with an edge still visible. The shot is locked off, but there are zooms in and out, and the subject does interact with the laptop.

    Here’s what I have now…

I used a luma key and levels to get the background to white, but am having trouble with the table itself. I can roto the laptop easily enough, but my main troubles are the shadows under her hands…

how would you guys tackle this?

    Many thanks,

Try masking loosely around the hand-shadow area, then using levels or curves to lighten the shadows. You might have to animate the mask.

Personally, I’d keep the hand shadows.

yeah, certainly try to maintain the shadows. It’s her only link with reality.

Yeah, you might want to try some curves in addition to levels (on a table masked adjustment layer). Also, try de-saturating with hue/saturation – sometimes making it true neutral looks like a cleaner white, which might help sell the effect without going pure white.
