i have a shot to shoot which is a CU on a hand moving a computer mouse and clicking the button.

the mouse is supposed to be clicked as the building sprinkler system is going off.

i was figuring i could wet the talents arm and wet the table. then i could use particular to make it look like the sprinkler system is going.

would this work? would there be a way to make the drops look like they are hitting the table?

you’d be better off shooting water spraying on to the talent’s arm, mouse and table top. then, if needed, use particular to enhance the spray/stream of water.

but if you want to give it a shot, particular can produce a fairly realistic water spray. then i might try to use mr mercury to create the drops on the table. aharon rabinowitz has a tutorial here at the cow using mr mercury to create water drops on a camera lens, and so does andrew kramer at videocopliot.net. either would be useful for what you are doing.

You can set a solid layer to be a ‘floor’ within particular. Then when the particles hit that, you can set it so the aux system emits a ‘splash’ of more particles on impact.

The results might not be photorealistic, but I reckon they’d be good enough. As long as your shot is locked off, that is!
