Simon – how difficult is it to convert these to 1080i 29.97? I was using your 3-Way Assymetrical with a talking head and the video played back slow. I opened the effect in Motion and saw that it was 720p 59.94. I’ve fooled around with Motion a little but not enough at this point. Is it simply a matter of resizing the elements into a 1080i project? If I break it I probably can’t fix it! LOL

I think this is the kind of stuff that people overlook about FCP X. There’s more than meets the eye and this is just one example. Keep them coming!

In previous versions of FCP this required an awful lot of work for not nearly as nice a result. Thanks!

I’ve been trying to use X on an older 17″ MBP which meets specs but even proxy footage doesn’t play back smoothly and the interface is laggy. On my early 2008 Mac Pro it’s better but still have issues similar to what you’re describing. That first update can’t come soon enough because otherwise X is looking pretty good. The response issue reminds me of FCP 1.25 however…

Kevin – broadcast safe works for me in clipping overs to 100% according to the scopes.
I agree about that global controls. There’s probably a way to do it that would involve Motion.
