i had a Behringer BCF2000.
very simple, and affordable.

i wound up not using it that much.
the plastic faders made horrible clacking sounds when in automation.

i wound up using an Alpha-track single fader control surface,
which was great,
i mainly needed to ride levels on music and atmos tracks,
dialogue and spot effects, i use keyboard shortcuts for.

i dont think either are available other than on e-bay,
but Behringer does have a nicely priced unit called X-Control compact
touch sensitive faders, which the old one didn’t have
i;d check it out before you buy it though, see if the faders are still just a noisy as the old one.

converting H264 to ProRes LT.

LT, while good, and quite acceptable in many situations, would not be the best codec to use if you want to do a high quality master of your work.
for a large screening, say. for for some high-end colour correction

if you planing to go back to the original at some stage. make sure you have got your Cannon files in the correct format,
and are transcoding them properly.
i’m no export on that, Shane is.

OR transcode to a highger quality codec

however, as i say: LT is quite fine in many instances.

i havent done this in a while, and this is from memory:

in FCP< go to Tools Menu > Control Surfaces
click on the plus button to add a new control surface,
you have to specify the protocol.

are you sure that AKai will work with FCP?

unless you work with larger scale images, i wouldn’t edit in HD, as you;re blowing the pics up, then shrinking them.

make sure the pixel aspect ratio is square.

yes, zoom will hide the issue,
ALSO
you should set the sequences motion filtering to BEST
this will improve the quality of the rotation once it is rendered

you do this in the sequence’s settings, in the video tab.

have you tried trashing your preferences?

a work around would be to not re-join the edits.
either switch to a different angle,
or just roll the edit down.

if you did the export out of FCP, you’d probably see duplicate frames, as it attempts to fit 24 frames per second into 25 frames per second.

you may also have sync issues exporting directly from the 24fps timeline.

however you’re exporting out of Premiere.
maybe you should ask your question in the Premiere forum.
