video/reduce interlace flicker effect should help —

I have problems when it comes to halftones/very fine print. Sometimes that effect helps. Make sure you put on motion blur — it’ll clean things up. Make sure your images are nice and massive also, atleast 2k if you’re animating them for standard def — this will allow you to get ultra close with a 3d cam.

I always have problems with sound levels out of ae for some reason. Always way to loud or two soft.

Yeah thats definately it — it is just a little vague in my mind. I thought it had more to do with the actual rigging of the figure. Thanks Bar3nd!

set the gravity to 0 and keyframe it to 1 RIGHT before the anticipated collision.

Well you can do it with stroke; are you looking for video or print?

You need plenty of layers set to multiply/color/burn…etc in order to achieve it properly. Don’t forget your layer with a feathered mask (showing the edges only) with a gaussian blur on it — and some color burning gradients. It will take some patience — if you’re looking to do it with print I’d use some sort of 3d software and just lay out some sweep nurbs (c4d…) — I believe i ran across a tutorial on that sort of thing in an issue of COMPUTER ARTS PROJECTS. It was last summer and it showed how to do it in maya using multi-pass techniques. You can’t just ‘make’ it; it is going to be a ton of layers and effects with different blends — but it’ll look hot in the end.

Or use the same motion tracked data on a mask and use vegas….
it would be a little more ‘ trapcode glowy strokey… ‘

I’ve grown to like the vegas effect more than I should. I guess its just one of those effects that I didn’t know existed when I first started using ae…to be honest I don’t know if it was even in the software yet!
