Don’t forget how important trash talking is.

YOU KISS YOUR MOMMA WITH THAT KEYFRAME INTERPOLATION?!?!?!?

  • For the FCP to AE workflow, it is great. We have the Avid Liscense, but we haven’t used it all that much.

get a skydrop, and try to make some volumetrics with particular.
OR —- pop clouds off the sky, maybe with UNMULT and some color shifting, and have them animate in 3d space.
Don’t forget about a lense flair!

If you have nucleo pro you can always try some workaround high res spec preview/spec render options —-
it’ll be an extra step but you’ll get it out if your RAM previews are working.

Also, try an image sequence. Maybe set one to fire out right in the middle of the Knoll animation, if it works, then pick up the rest using ‘skip exisiting files.’

  • Never saw it, but it sounds like a lot of motion tracking and corner pinning — and displacement layers based on the tracked quicktimes —- or just some clever photoshop still work —

We have the same machine (3.0ghz…6 gigs of ram…some cool video card with a video game chick on it…), but we installed XP pro and are running nucleo pro on that end, with AFX 7 off a Raptor. Stability wise, it has its problems, but when it renders it is outputting renders that were taking 12 hours on my Core Duo laptop running XP pro in a mere 3ish hours. HUGE PERFORMANCE LEAP.

I’d run the windows end until AE comes out in binary. I’m kicking bootcamp to the curb as soon as that happens.

So — does this mean I’m using 4 gigs of ram or not?
    This is so friggin baffling.

    Check out Fusion 5.

Its like Shake crossed with AE with an awesome particle system.
Its node based, which is sometimes hard to conceptualize the linear flow, but its pretty friggin powerful.

Most importantly, its about the artist. If you know the software you then know the limitations of it, and the more tools that you have the more approaches you can take to a project to have the most efficient and best looking workflow. Kind of like ” oh we’ll do this in AE — then this in SHAKE (or the rumored PHENOMENON) — then color correct the whole damn thing together — ”
