Yes, the aspect ratio of both the comp and the layer in which the path was created are the same (DVCPRO HD 720 1.33). It was shot on the HVX.

To be even MORE specific, I’ve realized the path is fine, even on the null object is matches the original motion path. However the particles object is not following it accurately. I tried recreating new one within the layer to make sure the aspect ratio isn’t an issue.

    Still confused…

To be more specific, I’m going by Andrew Kramer’s 3d Strobe Effect, just not making it 3D.
I have an object with CC Particle World applied to it to create the effect of a light orb zipping along. A null object has the mask path pasted to its Position property and the Position X and Position Y properties of the Particle object are parented to the position of the null.

It’s all within the same layer. When I copy and paste it into a newly created object, the path matches fine. Even when taking that and copying/pasting into the desired null object, it doesn’t match.

Wow, thanks for the suggestions, Mike and Walt.

It hasn’t been shot yet, we go to camera in 3 weeks and I’m testing out different methods so we know how to shoot it properly. I was planning on having a portable green screen present so that I can get background plates and shoot each character in front of the green (or maybe I’ll just need to get either the before or after character in front of green).

Will be conducting VFX tests over the next week. I’ll try and post my results here for you to see.

It doesn’t appear to be any particular clip. I’ve gone through the sequence chunk by chunk, setting Ins/Outs and then attempting to render it out in segments to see if there was a meddling cilp bogging things up, but the gen error occurs everytime.

It appears to happen at the same progress point, regardless if I’m trying to render out the whole sequence or just a chunk of it.
Tried the “Save As” trick, and disabling/enabling visibility on all clips. No dice.
I may need an exorcist to come in and look at this, because I’m stumped and the client needs this video.

Can you explain the steps you took in greater detail please? I work side-by-side with another editor who works in Vegas (I use FCP) and the issues between the two are incredibly irritating. He often cuts and I grade.

It would be a GREAT help if we learned what you did.
