You could also remove all but the clips that needed uprezzing and then media manage the sequence using the batch recompress option setting a HD preset? That way you would also have handles, and preserve time code for future processing.

From their web site, it appears Second Copy is Windows only. So if your NAS/SAN is Mac and your clients are Mac, you might need to look at something Mac, like Bru.

There\’s very little hope that the ProRes codecs will be ported to the Mac.
Until then, the best course for a Linux Resolve is to…
1. Export from Linux Resolve to an uncompressed QT and convert that to ProRes in a Mac.
2. Open the Linux Resolve project in a Mac Resolve, and render from that as ProRes.

We routinely do #1 and it works just fine.

We’ve converted Canon 7D footage to ProResHQ (not plain ProRes). Colour corrected them in Color. Exported to DPX and printed on film. Film print in a theatre shows no banding.

What happens if you open the ProRes clip and the XDCam clip on the same monitor. Is there banding on the ProRes but not in the XDCam clip when paused at the exact same frame?

That would be interesting. I need to test this out too.

You don’t need to. But you could consider setting the render codec to ProRes. That speeds up work when you do any effects.

I’ve observed some funkiness in FCP 7 handling of TC for EDL import. I’ve posted it here. My issue has been import of EDL from other systems into FCP 7.

What’s amazing in your case is that the timeline, originating in FCP 7, shows wrong TC in the exported EDL. The same timeline when exported as XML from FCP 7 and imported into FCP 6, now shows the correct TC.

So, basically, if I understood correctly, FCP 7 has the correct TC, just that it refuses to send it out correctly in an EDL.

I flagged my issue of EDL import back to Apple by the ‘Send feedback to Apple’ link. I hope it gets corrected. You could do that too.

I’d love to examine your timeline if you can send it to me as a project with just one timeline in it, as well as an exported XML of the timeline.

OSX SL screen record movies are not directly editable. Thank Apple that you can even do this. Other systems and OSes make you run around circles for this.

Anyway, open the screen record movie in QT Player 7. And export it in a format that you need in your edit. Even Compressor does this. Mind that the size will swell up considerably.
