I stand corrected.
Upon closer inspection, several controls get hidden.
I wish its weren’t that way. Time to look at a HiRes 15″ or a retina MBP. Though there are still some good deals on 17″ MBPs. I might actually consider a 23″ LED monitor. I’m eyeing the HP ZR2440w which is going at a discount at some places.

I did get the cable, this one…

which is a
HighPoint External Mini-SAS to Esata (SFF8088 to eSATA), 1M (3-Feet) Ext-MS-1MES

And connected a G-Tech G-RAID (2-drive 4TB RAID0) which mounted fine. But the G-Speed eS which is a 4 drive RAID did not mount at all. Guess its because this cable does not support port multiplier.

A slightly weird suggestion. Try keying the same keys in FCP X 10.0.3 or higher.

I recently did a keying job in FCP X.

I first tried the key in AE. AE’s built-in keyers are not very good with Canon and other such material. Then I had an asst try in Resolve. Admittedly he is no expert so the keys weren’t that great in Resolve either. And I do have access to many Nuke/Shake artists.

But before sending off the footage, I tried ‘one last time’ with FCP X. And was amazed. Clean keys with the minimum of effort. And surprisingly powerful controls. This is not some iMovie keyer. This is stuff they’ve gleaned from Shake, Primatte, Final Touch and other such legacy apps.

Also, it may help to convert the footage to ProRes4444 so at least the chroma color space is cleaner.

Worth trying if Compressor will convert to ProRes and retain timecode. It does so for other formats.

Actually the folder I’m seeing in my system is /Library/PostgreSQL/8.4. But there doesn’t seem to be any project named files in there. So maybe you can’t extract projects from here.

I normally right-click on a project in the Config window and select Export+. Then import this resulting .resolve.zip file into another Resolve system. Doing this I’ve transferred projects back and forth between systems.

It’s just like elsewhere in the world.

Avid ruled till about 2004. Then FCP swept it away. Now FCP 7 is common in TV show editing facilities. Ads do both FCP and Avid. PPro is still unheard of.
Smoke rules the finishing market. Mostly Linux Smoke. the few Smoke Mac that exist service the lo-no budget market.

Film is huge. Lustre, Baselight, Resolve, iQ, Nucoda in that order cover this space.
