When you tried ‘nesting’ where were the filters?
I’d try nesting the clip and its freeze only, then apply the filters to the nest. That SHOULD work …
(It’ll be quick to do if use the copy & paste attributes functions – you won’t have to recreate any filter effects.)

Q1 Are there any filters on the clips involved in the transition?
Q2 Did either clip need to be rendered at all, for any reason? (i.e. different clip settings from that of the Sequence.)

I don’t know the specific Spanish accents, but generally on the Mac (and I can’t recall this NOT working in any application) you can get letters like

In ‘ Log & Capture’, under ‘Clip Settings’ tab, there is a button at the top labelled ‘Video Scopes’ – these are for monitoring the video input levels.
You should turn these on and adjust your levels on the VTR (assuming your model allows that.)
One problem with adjusting the levels at the input stage, is that you can simply be compensating for incorrect levels out of the VTR. If the VTR levels were set too high, you would compensate by pulling down the input level on FCP and think that all is well, but this cause you to lose valuable video information. Here, 2 wrongs don’t make a right!
Check the BARS, but also check the program levels, too. Sometimes, the color bars don’t match the levels of the recorded media.
You may want to consider, after you’ve set the levels, recording a portion of the bars as a clip, for later reference, say in the case of grading.
Also, especially for grading purposes, remember that once the input clips the video with its proc-amp, you lose the ability to fix some of your highlights (skies, etc) This is especially so if the camera’s clip levels are set higher than the input’s proc-amps.

Apparantly, the latest phones have a feature whereby I can talk into my phone, and someone else on another phone many miles away, can not only hear me but talk back to me, too!
And its all in realtime.

Seriously, its time we (they) came up with a new name for these things.
This current generation of young people are being brought up on a device that has so many uses and features; the least used of which is the ability to talk to other people.

Don’t laugh – you’ll probably be able to edit on the thing, soon.

‘Telephones’ are rapidly becoming a thing of the past, as the revolution continues.

Mind boggling stuff, indeed.

I stated that “Its a part of QuickTime – not a separate export option in itself.”
In case you’re not aware, this means that you can make WMV files from anything that uses QuickTime, including of course, QuickTime itself (File.Export), and Final Cut.
You don’t HAVE to use Compressor only to make WMVs.

Where did the tape come from?
It may be a difference between your Capture Settings and the actual tape settings; ie frame rate, timecode type, video standard (NTSC/PAL) audio rate (48k v 32k) DVCam v miniDV etc.

Its a part of QuickTime – not a separate export option in itself.

So look under ‘QuickTime Export Components’ and set the ‘Encoder Type’ as ‘Windows Media’

select ‘Options’ to access the settings.

Be careful about which version of Flip4Mac you have – they don’t all do large size SD frame sizes…
