  • How to do writing accents, please?

    Howdy everybody,
I have an American keyboard but I’m writing a text [in the typewriting mode] in Spanish, where I need writing accents to be written.
When using this keyboard in other applications [such as Word] I get the writing accent by clicking opt+E, but when in Final Cut, I don’t know how to get it.
Thank you very much in advance and Happy Monday!

The best way I’ve found of dealing with accents of any kind are to cut an paset from a word precessing app.

    It’s exactly the same.

    Thank you so much, Cris,
but as I said, I am trying to use the ‘Typewriting’ mode when using the TEXT feature in FCP, and I don’t know how to get the writing accents so commonly used in Spanish.

Thank you for your response, but I don’t see any answer to my question in the link you sent me.

    two ways

    1) set your keyboard to your language

    2) use the ‘special characters’ option in one of the dropdown menus

I think you can cut & paste too out of the glyph editor or whatever that is.

to further clarify Peter’s suggestion, open the Mac Help System and search for typing special characters and symbols. You can set several options in System Prefs or use a selectable keyboard layout.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

    Thank you Peter.
Just by changing the language in the keyboard I got the writing accents in FCP.
    Again, thanx so much.
