September 8, 2011 at 12:10 am in reply to: Restore New Mac Pro from Retiring Mac Pro Hard DriveThanks guys, I will give it a go. I ordered the machine from BH and they say that it may ship with 10.6 installed but with a voucher to upgrade so that could be the ticket.
Am I correct to assume that if it comes with Lion and it will not boot from my old drive that I can still wipe the new drive clean and install 10.6 and then build up from there?Neal Broffman

Select the first photo to which the effect has already been applied and hit command-c. Then highlight the rest of your stills and hit option-v (paste attributes) and select the motion and other parameters that you want to apply. This assumes that all of your stills are the same size when you prepared them.

July 29, 2011 at 8:01 pm in reply to: FCP 7 crashes when working pro res 422 in sequence after Lion updateYou updated the OS and added FCPX on the same system? i would suggest you restore to the previous OS from the back-up you made and remove FCPX from it as well. Of course do a little more research but from what I have read here and elsewhere while Apple states one can have both FCP 7 and FCPX on the same system actual users have complained of instability. You should probably keep the two FCPs away from each other. A search on this forum should yield more detailed information.

July 7, 2011 at 2:19 pm in reply to: Gopro v Sony Importing problem to do with fps I think?GoPro video is h.264 which is difficult for FCP to edit as it is an end user format. Use Compressor to convert the clips to Pro Res and then edit with those.

You may be able to use Sony XDCAM Transfer to unwrap the MXF files and Compressor to convert to Pro Res.

Were you given the option to reconnect the clips? Or were they grayed out and not selectable? Have you tried reconnecting the media and de-selecting the box that asks for “Matched name and reel only”? You can force reconnect your clips that way but it would be best to save a copy of the project file before doing this.

Same edit system? Or did you move the hard drive to a different one?

Are you sure they were both shot at the same frame rate? Sometimes people confuse shutter speed with frame rate. Not to say you have but just checking.
