Rod, put your cursor on the top part of the panel where the word “project” is then click and drag the panel to where you want it to be in your screen layout.

Michael,
I made the switch last year and use the PC (desktop workstation) strictly for editing. That said, I connect to the internet to upload to Vimeo and for updates to plug-ins (Red Giant, BCC). That’s pretty much it. I have my old Mac workstation sitting right next to the PC and use it for email, purchases, browsing, etc. If I buy production music on-line I do it on the Mac and then throw it into Dropbox, which is also on the PC.
I rarely edit away from my office but I take a Mac laptop into the field for footage transfers and some rough edits. This arrangement has, so far, been very efficient. Works for me.
Good luck.
Cheers,
NealNeal Broffman

Jeff makes an excellent point about bang for buck. I was all in on Apple machines for years until this year when I decided to get a new one. I switched to a custom PC from Puget Systems.

They have great support – you call them and they answer the phone and are extremely helpful. One year on-site service included with the machine.
I shoot and edit mostly 4K from C300MK2. For me it was definitely worth the switch.
Good luck.Neal Broffman

As a workaround, instead of creating an AE comp you could export your composite with an extra second at the end and then import that clip into PP and just do the fade on that clip. While this does not answer why the problem is occurring it might be faster than the AE route and more permanent.

Brent, perhaps you did this when you tried to keyframe the opacity?
Delete your Black Video layer altogether.
Nest your video and background. Keyframe the opacity to zero.Neal Broffman

If your specs on export are just a typo and you are actually exporting at 23.976 you might try making your video previews ProRes and then, if it plays without the glitch in your timeline, exporting using your previews.
And you can also try to export using Media Encoder instead of exporting directly from PP. Perhaps you have already tried this.
This might help you isolate where the problem is (assuming you are exporting the same frame rate).Neal Broffman

Don’t hold your breath waiting for them to track any of it. It can be very frustrating.

You also have the option of installing 2015 under the previous versions tab of the CC installer even if you did a clean install.

December 9, 2016 at 7:36 pm in reply to: looking for off-shelf PC tower for Premiere Pro in LAYou might get more bang for the buck looking at a used machine. There are a ton of used Mac Pro towers that are a few years old that will do exactly what you want and that are within your price range. Some might even have video cards for your output already installed. Just a thought. Good luck.
